Our ‘key person’ system gives each practitioner particular responsibility for a group of children.
Each child is allocated a key person during their first two weeks at the nursery. This enables each child in the group to have one special adult to relate to, which can make settling into the group much easier. In addition, the key person is in a position to support the individual learning and developmental needs of each child. The key person maintains links with parents through shared record keeping and discussion to ensure that all children are supported in reaching their full potential. Each child’s main key person will be supported by another to help continuity when a member of staff is absent.
Each child has a record of their learning and development through a secure online learning journal called Tapestry. Tapestry allows parents to safely access their child’s learning and observations from a computer/mobile device using a personal password system. Parents can also upload information to tapestry which helps staff and parents to work in partnership to celebrate a child’s achievements and progress.
